Tis the holiday season…and that means festivities and celebrations aplenty!
Things started on Friday with a White Elephant exchange at a friend’s house. I was a little disappointed there wasn’t more ’stealing’ during the gift exchange. And none of the gifts were too bad, although someone did bring a record – - Culture Club. I think that’s going to end up for sale online…
To add to the fun, we had an ‘ugly Christmas sweater’ contest too. Shockingly, I don’t seem to have any good pictures of MY Christmas sweater…sequins, jingle bells, and some fuzzy balls for Santa’s hat…but I didn’t win. The judges told me it was ‘too cute.’ Huh.
My friends here didn’t win either. The winner…well, all I can say is there was a goose on the front and shoulder pads…it was awesome.
Even the dog got into the holiday spirit, although he wasn’t very jolly about it…
Saturday’s event was the Santa Pub Crawl. For the past 13 years, these friends have been dressing up in holiday costumes (Santa Claus, elves, reindeer – whatever!) and celebrating at various bars throughout Seattle.
This was my first year doing this. My friend, Paula, was visiting from Oakland and I dragged her with me. I bought the Santa hats and we went.
It was too much fun! Unfortunately, we were mocked for the hats…apparently only ‘rookies’ wear them. Go bigger…got it!
By the time we left, there were probably about 50 or so Santas dancing and drinking at the J&M in downtown Seattle. Hilarious!
And then there was the snow!
Ho ho ho!
Update:
After talking about all the holiday festivities, I didn’t want to leave out getting together with two of my closest friends, who BOTH came home this weekend to visit their friends and families for the holidays.
Paula is the friend I’ve known the longest…we met in 7th grade in band class. (Oh yes, I was a total band geek!) After the Santa Pub Crawl, we went to see my brother, who she hadn’t seen in almost 10 years!
And then, of course, my bff came to town…so we went out to dinner to catch up, celebrate the holidays, and plan our next travel adventure…we’re thinking maybe Croatia?
Haha! Ugly sweater contest? Sweeeet…We do something similar and see who can wear the goofiest looking sweater on christmas–funny stuff.
