In addition to finally getting out to go fishing, I also had my first clamming experience recently. JJ did a whole post on clamming last year (http://scudmark.wordpress.com/2008/02/06/clambo/), and I have wanted to try it but I had never been until a couple weekends ago…I should have re-read the post before I left!!
We got up at the crack of dawn and drove out to the ocean, expecting to see lots of people. It was active but not crazy busy like I had heard it would be.

It was a gorgeous day…

And once we got started (and actually got the hang of it), it didn’t take long to catch our limit, just like JJ said…

And we had a blast…in fact, we had so much fun, we are headed back this weekend. Supposedly, things are opening up again for Friday and Saturday, so we’re going to try this again. (Apparently, somebody didn’t get his fill of cleaning clams last time!)

And this time, we might try fishing for surf perch too…they were killing them when we were there!
Awesome…I wish I could go this weekend, my razor clam supply is low!
Tell ‘your boy’ to use those clam necks for surf perch bait (or you can keep it to yourself and catch more than him!)…
He doesn’t have a shy bone in his body, and he was asking the guys down there what they were using…so he already knows that secret!
But I’ll still catch more than him…hahaha! We’ll see…should be fun.
Speaking of razor clams…do you have a good recipe for clam chowder, or is that one of those things you just “whip” together??
Well, both…I don’t think that I’ve ever made my chowder the same twice…I make mine with some bacon and celery thrown in because thats, uh, how I like it…
…There are regular readers here (JTI, GFV) with some Awesome ‘chowdah’ recipes that might be more appealing to you…So, you might want to try theirs…If not, I’ll hook you up with mine…
The more options, the better! Hook a sister up with the “chowdah” recipes…
Oh, great pictures too!
Great photos!
I do love my avatard…
